Francesco Ragalmuto’s passion for accessories is torn between fine and costume jewelry.The 30 years-old designer gainet experience while working for a goldsmith in Udine,his hometown,and opened his own fine jewelry workschop in 1986.His main influences were LE Corbusier,the Dadaist and Kinetic art.After a year,fueled by knowledge he now had under his belt,Ragalmuto moved to Milan.”In Milan I met Romeo Gigli and was commissioned to do the 1987 sprig/summer accessory collection for Callaghan(for which Gigli is design consultant)”,says Ragalmuto,recalling his debut in the designer world.Since then, the young designer divides his time between precious jewelry and costume jewelry.”Coming from the fine jewelry world,I pay close attention to details and treat costume jewels as if they were made from precious stones,”says Ragalmuto.This outlook has led him to create a new way of supporting Gigli’s earrings,which would otherwise be too heavy to wear.Ragalmuto has designed and manifactured all sort of pieces-ethinc,Byzantine,African-inspired-for names like Gigli,Marina Spadafora and Fiorucci.Working at home,he uses such materials as wool,glas,metal,leather and even fruit.His own costume-jewelry line,to which he is dedicating more time consists of nature-inspired pieces,like a silver metal neaklace whit a real avocado-pit charm.”I love nature and anything that derives from it,”says Ragalmuto.” I love objects that have a soul,pieces that expess a message.

Francesco Ragalmuto Garito studied Goldsmith Art in Udine, Italy. He worked as a Jewels Designer for the Fashion industry in Milan in the 1980/90’s for Prada, Romeo Gigli, Marina Spadafora, Gianna Cassoli and Fiorucci.
He designed two collections for Barneys New York.
He also worked for the famous architect Giancarlo Montebello.

He distinguished himself with his own Jewels collections especially with jewels made from Nature elements.
For every collection, he writes a thema and his jewels are conceptual pieces of Art with a message from heart and soul.
Francesco, who has a large experience of working with different style and people, can be considerate one of the most interesting contemporary artist.

Destiny

Francesco moved during his childhood to Udine; graduated as goldsmith, he made the first steps towards the setup of his very own jeweler’s art. As a man of revolutionary ideas and incisive temperament, Francesco hardly settled down. Due to a series of unexpected events – or as he prefers to put it, Destiny – he ended up in Milan, where he maintained himself as a waiter in one of the most exclusive restaurant of the city.

Surrounded by peculiar characters, Francesco started networking in the world of fashion, art, and of course jewelery.
His passion couldn’t go unnoticed, and that same fiery vocation led him to be published on international magazines like Elle and others. Alight by his pure inspiration, the artist tend to involve the audience in his vision of freedom, nature, research, and respect of life.
